Three cabin-style suites in Fraijanes, Costa Rica — each with its own private jacuzzi, terrace and kitchenette, on one gated cloud-forest property in the highlands above Alajuela.
Fraijanes sits at roughly 1,600 metres up the southern flank of the Poás Volcano — on one of the mountains that ring Costa Rica’s Central Valley, in a coffee region that carries its own name. Mornings come in clear over the Central Valley, and the cloud forest closes in by afternoon. It is cool enough at night to want the blanket — and close enough to San José that you can land and be here before dinner.
Each one is self-contained: its own entrance, its own jacuzzi, its own terrace facing the forest. You will not share a corridor, a lobby or a breakfast room with anyone.

$120–$180per night

Nights that qualify
Pick your dates at the top of the page and we will tell you whether they qualify.
Hydrangeas along the roadsides, strawberry fields, trout lakes, and a volcano that has been rumbling since long before anyone thought to photograph it. You are high above the Central Valley here, not down in it. Every one of these was taken within a short drive of the front gate.
You do not need to base yourself in San José and drive out. You are already up here.

About 10 minutes by car. The property sits in Fraijanes, on the southern flank of the volcano itself, so you are already most of the way up — you can be at the crater lookout before the morning queue builds and back here for a late breakfast.
Roughly 50 minutes by car from Juan Santamaría International Airport in Alajuela. It is one continuous climb on paved road, and it is a realistic drive on your arrival day, including after an evening landing.
We strongly recommend one. Fraijanes is a rural mountain area, and a car is what turns the location into an advantage — Poás, La Paz, the coffee estates and the waterfalls are all day trips from the door. Free parking is included at every suite. Private transfers can be arranged if you would rather not drive.
The property is gated with controlled entry, parking is on site and within sight, and each suite has its own private entrance with a key safe for self check-in at any hour. There are only three suites, so you will not share any common space with other guests.
Yes. All three suites have a private jacuzzi inside the suite, for your use only — there is no communal spa and no shared water area anywhere on the property. Each suite also has its own terrace facing the forest, a kitchenette and a dining table.
Fraijanes sits at roughly 1,600 metres, so it is markedly cooler than the coast: clear mornings, cloud building through the afternoon, and nights cool enough to want a blanket. Bring a light jacket even in the dry season — this is cloud forest, not beach.
Yes, pets are welcome in all three suites. Let us know in advance through the Airbnb message thread so we can have the suite ready for them.
Check-in is from 3:00 pm and check-out is at 11:00 am. Check-in is self-service through a key safe, so a late arrival after an evening flight is not a problem.
Yes. Any stay where every night falls between Monday and Thursday takes 18% off the nightly rate, and it applies to all three suites. A stay counts by its nights rather than its days, so checking out on a Friday morning still qualifies — a Friday night does not.
Yes. All three suites are available for extended stays, with a kitchenette, fridge, microwave and Wi-Fi in each. Message us through Airbnb for monthly rates rather than booking night by night.
